Kissoon Carr Promotional Video: Behind the Scenes

Over August and September I had the pleasure of working with Kissoon Carr, a London-based legal recruiter. They specialise in placing mid/upper tier clients for top UK, US, Middle East and Asia law firms. Their location in the heart of the City gives them access to top firms and talent in the area. Their tagline, 'More Than A Legal Recruitment Firm', is something that I found rang very true when I worked for them. Whilst many firms might just go through CVs and place candidates as quickly as possible, Kissoon Carr provides a variety of extra services to ensure it goes beyond what is normally expected. For instance, the dedicated team write articles on the sector, giving clients and general interest readers important insights into a fast-changing sector. They also do podcasts to get their opinion out there, and sponsor events to support important causes in the sector. I also got the impression of integrity, with the firm's heritage and strong family values something that came across strongly. In recruitment, trust between the client, firm and organisation is crucial, so Kissoon Carr having such a significant value-set is highly notable. Their partnership with charities, such as Mind, Parkinsons UK and Womankind, was also something I greatly admired.

In the video, I was thus very keen to promote their values in order to show a firm that cares about relationships in both a private and professional sense. That meant highlighting their 'HAPPEN' acronym, which gives a great overview of their value-based agenda. I also wanted the video to communicate a sense of pace, energy and modernity that is inherent for a fast-growing start-up in a rapidly changing sector. This explains the fast-cuts at the start. The decision to involve the the MD and his associate in the introduction ensured that the firm's personal values came across, but in a exciting manner. To achieve this, I used significant colour correction, upbeat and appropriate music and an introduction that saw both staff members walking in front of the camera. This demonstrated the fast-paced nature of the recruitment business, something that was close to the truth. With new relationships to forge and eager candidates waiting to get the job they deserve, the business prides itself on its dedicated work ethic. This was something I endevoured to match in both my own schedule and the overall style of the piece. The testimonials further reflected the values of the business, and were shot on location. Both Katja and Edward were very keen to do them, mostly thanks to the great relationship they have with the company. This is definitely something that made the whole process easier. Often a freelancer at this stage will take any job, and I'm no exception, but it's great when the company sells itself, meaning your marketing video only has to accurately reflect the realities of the business, not 'spin' them.

I also had the pleasure of doing 2 videos to promote the events that Kissoon Carr were sponsoring. These were the Asian Legal Awards and a London Young Lawyers Group event respectively. The corporate video was the most recent addition to their content, and can be viewed here:
